| 'To The Seven' is the first studio album from German Apocalyptic Black Metal band who used to call themselves TO THE SEVEN. This album contains a total of 10 songs and 6 out of 10 have already been released on their early demos or EPs. As I don't have any other materials from this band, I cannot judge if these 6 songs on this CD are re-recorded or simply re-used.
What I heard here is Norwegian-styled fast black metal with tremolo strummed riffs à la IMMORTAL. It is noisy enough, but as the chord progression and guitar riffs are quite "melodic", you might not have any difficulty to access to their music even if you are not a big black metal fan. APOKRYPHA's black metal would possibly be appealing even to Melodic Death/Thrash Metal fans as well. I must admit these guys have a good sense of composing straightforward and compact melodic black metal songs. Impressive.
Sound production of the recording is a bit cheap, but I myself enjoyed their CD a lot. There are no great "wickedness" or "brutality" or "coldness", but their "easy-to-understand"-ness can be much appreciated. I like this one. 21.06.2004 - Masa |
